Mon Aug 31 03:11pmDear Clive School Community,
We’re wondering if there are any parents or whānau who would be happy to help us out with a small request.
Earlier this year, New Zealand Community Trust (NZCT) generously contributed $15,000 towards the new liner for our school pool. Six months on, they have contacted us asking for some photos showing what their grant has helped provide for our school community.
We will be sending through some photos of our fabulous newly lined pool, but we would also love to include a few photos featuring some of our tamariki – perhaps sitting poolside with their feet dangling in the water, standing beside the pool giving a thumbs up, or something similar.
NZCT may use these images to help promote their grants programme through social media, published materials, their website and/or digital displays in NZCT gaming venues.
We completely understand that some families may be comfortable with their child appearing on NZCT’s website, social media or other promotional material, but may not want an image of their child in school uniform displayed within gaming venues. We can make this clear when providing the photos and request that any images featuring our students are used only in appropriate promotional channels, such as their website, social media and publications.
If you would be happy for your child to be involved in a photo to help us say a big thank you to NZCT for their $15,000 contribution, please email Heidi – heidi@clive.school.nz
We only need a small group of willing tamariki, and of course we will make sure we have parent/caregiver permission before sending any photos through.
Thank you!

Thu Aug 27 03:30pmKia ora whānau, We have been advised of a case of threadworms (worms) in a student at school.
Thu Aug 27 01:47pmThreadworms can spread very easily between children and within households, and people can sometimes have them without showing obvious symptoms.
If you are concerned, you may wish to speak with your pharmacist about treatment such as Vermox (mebendazole). Treatment is readily available from pharmacies, and pharmacists can advise whether it is appropriate to treat other members of the household at the same time and whether a second dose is needed after two weeks.
Good hygiene is also really important in preventing the spread and reinfection — particularly thorough handwashing, keeping fingernails short, washing bedding and towels, and having a shower or bath in the morning.
Please check with your pharmacist or healthcare professional before giving treatment to young children, anyone who is pregnant, or anyone for whom you are unsure whether the medication is suitable.
Thanks everyone for helping us minimise the spread within our school community. 💛
🚂 All aboard the Clive School Sick Bay Express! 🤧🤒
Wed Aug 26 04:03pmOur sick bay has been a bit like a train station today — as soon as one unwell passenger checks out and heads home, another one seems to arrive and take their place! 🛏️➡️🏠
There are lots of bugs, coughs, colds and flu-like illnesses doing the rounds at the moment, so we’d really appreciate everyone helping us keep our tamariki (and staff!) as healthy as possible.
Please have a look at the poster below for a quick reminder about when your child is well enough to come to school and when they’re better off tucked up at home recovering. 💙💛
Hopefully the Sick Bay Express has a few less passengers tomorrow! 🤞😂
Ngā mihi,
Clive School

Mon Aug 24 12:45pmCommunity Survey – Closing soon
Sat Aug 22 09:22amKia ora whānau,
A quick final reminder about our Community Survey. I forgot to send out the final reminder on Thursday, so just in case we’ve missed anyone, we’re keeping the survey open until 10.00am this morning.
If you haven’t had a chance to complete it yet, there’s still time! It only takes a couple of minutes and is quick and easy to complete on your phone or computer.
A huge thank you to everyone who has already taken the time to share their feedback. We’ve received 73 responses, which is fantastic, and we’re really pleased to have such strong input from our school community.
The survey will close at 10.00am today.
Thanks again, and have a wonderful weekend!
Cross-Country Update for Whānau Kia ora whānau,
Wed Aug 19 04:53pmAt this stage, we are still planning to go ahead with our Cross-Country tomorrow. We will only cancel if it is raining.
We visited Ātea-a-Rangi today and found it quite cold, particularly when the wind picked up. To help keep our tamariki warm and healthy, we have made a slight adjustment to how the day will run.
Marshals: If you have volunteered to marshal, we still require your support for the full event. Please arrive at Ātea-a-Rangi at 10.50am, as communicated by Mrs Cornelius, and be prepared to stay until approximately 1.00pm.
Rather than having all students at Ātea-a-Rangi for the duration of the Cross-Country, students will now be bussed down in year groups. They will watch approximately two year groups race, enjoy their sausage, and then be bussed back to school. This will mean they are not sitting outside in the cold for a long period of time.
Please make sure your child comes dressed warmly for the conditions.
For whānau coming along to watch, the approximate race times are:
Years 0–2: Racing begins at 11.00am
Years 3–4: Leaving school at approximately 11.15am, with racing expected to begin around 11.20–11.30am
Years 5–6: Leaving school around 12.00pm, with racing expected to begin around 12.10pm
These times are approximate, but the new bussing arrangements give us a much better indication of when each group will be racing.
Once students return to school, teachers will be here to supervise them until all staff have returned from Ātea-a-Rangi.
Thank you for your flexibility and support. Hopefully, this adjustment means our tamariki can still enjoy their Cross-Country while spending much less time sitting out in the cold.
Ngā mihi,
Clive School

Thu Aug 13 03:30pmA message from the sickbay – we may have a vomiting bug going around.
Wed Aug 12 10:51amWe are currently seeing some cases of vomiting and have also had several students affected over the past couple of weeks. While we don’t know if these cases are connected, please be vigilant and remember that children must stay home for 48 hours following their last episode of vomiting before returning to school.
Thank you for helping us reduce the spread.

Kia ora whānau, We have noticed that a few of our tamariki have been stopping to go eeling on the bridge in Muddy Creek after school.
Tue Aug 11 03:11pmWhile we know this is something many children enjoy, we’d appreciate your support in helping us keep everyone safe.
Please remind your child that we expect all students to head straight home at the end of the school day. If they would like to go eeling, they should first go home, change out of their school uniform, and then return with a parent or caregiver. Once students have left school, they are the responsibility of their parent or caregiver.
Students should not be stopping to eel on their way home from school unless they are accompanied by a parent or caregiver.
Thank you for your support and for working alongside us to keep our tamariki safe.
