CLIVE KIDS are connected, engaged and creative. If you are as excited about the potential of your child as we are then they will thrive at Clive School. Our community is situated in a semi-rural locality, nestled between Napier and Hastings in ‘The Bay’, established in 1879.

We don’t just live traditions we create them. Partnerships between and within our community of learners are strong. We hold and share high achievement expectations for all children and we work hard to achieve each student’s potential. Learning is relevant,

Our Values

Manaakitanga / Respect

Manaaki for themselves, others and everything and everyone around them.

Kaitiakitanga / Guardianship

Kaitiaki of their world, our community and school. Looking out for each other through Tuakana Teina (the relationship between older and younger children and our community members).

Hauora / Health

The health and well-being of our Tamariki, our people and community moving forward. Hauora encompasses all areas of health (Physical, Mental, Whānau and Spiritual (our connectedness)

Come and get a Pumpkin

Thu Jun 27 11:23am

Kia ora,

We were over supplied with pumpkins for the hangi.  If you would like some pumpkins please come and help yourself.

There are a few that are starting to rot.  If you have a pig please come to school and let Jo know – we will give you the container of these.  Or if anyone is heading to TA and driving past the Farmyard Zoo we would really appreciate it if you came and got the rotting ones to drop to them.

IMPORTANT: Disco and school update:

Wed Jun 26 12:25pm

Kia ora Clive whānau,

Firstly our thoughts are with our Haumoana and Te Awanga based whānau. We hope you come through this event unscathed. We are also aware that our arterial routes have been impacted this morning creating a challenge for our Napier and Hastings based whānau. With this in mind, we have made the decision to postpone our FOS Matariki Disco until Thursday the 1st of August (Term 3) in the interest of safety.

Please keep your tickets in a safe place at home.

Our amazing FOS team is once again pivoting to make new arrangements. A huge thanks to Pizza Hut Napier for their understanding and support to shift our large order to the new date.

Our FOS team is giving every child at school today a bag of popcorn (free). Ka mau te wehi!

Our Hangi whānau will have packs ready for collection from your child’s classroom as close to 3:00pm as possible. Please ensure you collect these as the meat will attract vermin if left at school. If you arrive early, you are welcome to once again collect your child and take them home.

Stay safe and warm whānau!

School is open:

Wed Jun 26 08:56am

Kia ora whānau,

It is rather wet out there today. School is open as usual.

For those who have been evacuated, come as you are. If lunches or other supplies are needed, please let Jo in the office know, and we will arrange Kai, etc for your kids.

We have a fun-filled day planned for Matariki, so they will be kept busy.

With the weather, one adult will be on road patrol. Please stop in both directions for the one sign that is out. You are dry, we are not!

Stay warm and dry!

Matariki activities

Tue Jun 25 06:17pm

Kia ora whānau,

Another change: unfortunately, due to the weather, the Āwhīna whānau team will still be working with our students tomorrow but will not be available after 3:00 p.m for the community. We apologise for the confusion.

Matariki activities

Tue Jun 25 06:15pm

Kia ora whānau,

Another change: unfortunately, due to the weather, the Āwhīna whānau team will still be working with our students tomorrow but will not be available after 3:00 p.m for the community. We apologise for the confusion.

Hangi update:

Tue Jun 25 05:31pm

Kia ora Clive whānau,

Unfortunately with the weather the way it is (and yet to get worse) we are not able to proceed with cooking the hangi (wet ground takes the heat away from  the stones). With the meat already defrosted and sitting in chillers we need to proceed with distributing it.

Tomorrow afternoon the army of helpers and I will be packaging up the packs and will send them home with your eldest or only child (raw). Included in the bag will be cooking instructions (for the oven).

We are genuinely disappointed that we cannot proceed with the hangi plan as so many people have generously donated kai, time and expertise to get it to this point. From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU!

All other Matariki activities will be proceeding tomorrow as planned, just indoors. The Āwīna Whānau team are getting here early to set up the rotations. The team is still hopeful to see you after 3:00pm for the activities. All activities will now be based in the Hall and the Senior school classrooms.

The FOS Matariki disco is still all go. The Lantern walk has been moved inside of our Explorers classrooms and under the covered verandah for shelter. A reminder that this starts at 5:30 in the hall and ends at 7:00. We request that parents please arrive at 6:45 to collect your children at the conclusion of the disco. Parking will be at a premium with this rain so if you wish to collect your child earlier. Please feel free to do so.

Noho ora mai

Optional: Early pickup

Tue Jun 25 02:58pm

Kia ora whānau,

With this weather and the shortage of parking at school, please feel free to come and collect your child early if you so wish.

Please be extra vigilant around school as children and adults will be trying to evade the rain and may make unexpected decisions.

Stay dry and warm!
