Week 4, Term 3 Newsletter

11th August 2023

Welcome

Kia ora Clive whānau,

What an amazing night for our tamariki and whānau with our Matariki Disco and lantern walk. A huge thank you to our Friends of School (FOS) for organising the disco for our students and to all our staff who assisted and organised the Matariki Lantern walk.
Running along side these events was our Māori whānau hui which was a great opportunity to share. and discuss what we do here at school to look further out for our Board of Trustees long term strategic plan. A sincere thank you to everyone who attended. Over the coming weeks we will share further information with the wider community so you too can have your say in our future direction.
Our students have been busy both in and out the classrooms over the last few weeks with lots of out of school events to participate in. Check out some of the action in the photos below.

Winter illness is definitely making itself known at school at present with on average 25% of our students absent due to illness daily. Flu, Covid and Stomach bugs are prevalent. Please encourage your children to be mindful of hygiene and keep anyone home who is unwell.

As always, if you would like to discuss your child's education or anything going on that you feel our staff should be aware of, please do not hesitate to make contact with your child's classroom teacher. We are here to help!

Noho ora mai

Principal

Welcome Mrs Howett: Room 3H

Mrs Katrina Howett, whilst a regular face seen around our school relieving, is due to start in our Explorers class once again for the second half of the year as this classroom grows in size.
I am sure you will all join me in welcoming Katrina back to our full time teaching team.
Beginning of Year 2024 Out of Zone Enrolments
(Please share with your friends and family)

The Board invites applications from those wishing to enrol their children at Clive School during Terms One and Two of the 2024 school year to submit an application.

Those wishing to apply for an out of Zone child to start later in 2024 may also apply now for the process to be held later in the year (August/September).

Enrolment is governed by an enrolment scheme, details of which are available on our website and from the school office, along with application forms (phone 06 870 0538 or admin@clive.school.nz)

The deadline for receipt of applications for out of zone children is Monday 18th September 2023.

Parents of students in our zone should also let us know of students due to arrive at school as this helps us with our planning for the years ahead.

The Board has determined that THIRTY FIVE (35) places are to be available for out of zone children for the start of the 2024 school year. Details may be found on our website www.cliveschool.co.nz/enrolment/

If the number of out-of-zone applications exceeds places, students will be selected by ballot. If required this will be held on Tuesday 19th September.

Parents will be informed of the outcome by Thursday 21st September 2023.

If you would like to book an appointment to visit our school we would love to show you what Clive has to offer: 06 870 0538

Further information is available from our office at any time.
