Nau mai haere mai, Welcome

Kia ora Clive whānau,

What a wonderful start to the new school year! A very warm welcome to all our new families, it is great to have you here!

It has been a privilege catching up with everyone over the last two weeks, discussing holiday stories and seeing the smiles on faces of our students and whānau as they walk through the school gates.

Our classrooms are humming with activity, the pool is refreshingly cool and finally after three years of investigation and red tape our water pressure has returned to full capacity. Please be aware of the coned off areas around our school as the plumbers tidy up a few last minute connections to the new water mains installed over the holiday period.

A few reminders for the beginning of the school year. Our sun is super hot in Hawkes Bay. Please ensure you apply sunscreen on your child before coming to school and check that they have their sun hat before leaving home!

Stationery - we understand the pressures of the Christmas holidays and back to school costs. If you are struggling to afford your child's stationery, please just contact Jo in the office (o6 870 0538) or admin@clive.school.nz we will arrange support so your child can get onto the important task of learning.

Togs, togs, togs... don't forget your togs! No one likes watching everyone else cool off and have fun in the pool as they don't have their togs.

Student goal setting interviews. A notice was distributed via the School App this week with instructions on booking goal setting interviews (20th and 21st Feb). Please contact Jo if you are struggling to make a booking (or accidentally double book). Our interviews are an important start to the year as it allows our staff and you our whānau, the opportunity to touch base and set goals for your child for the 2024 school year.

Learning is a partnership between student, kaiako/teachers and whānau. If you would like to discuss your child's learning. Please just pop in to see your child's teacher. Our doors are always open.

Noho ora mai / stay well

Chris Birch

Junior School Playground

Our wonderful Friends of School worked incredibly hard over the last few years to replace the old playground with this new Junior School playground. A huge thanks to Kael and Emma O'Leary for their assistance over the holidays removing the old playground posts with their digger. The final step before the new playground could be installed.

Installation of the new playground begins on Monday the 12th Feb. Vehicles will be moving around the school chaperoned by a walking spotter. Movements will be coordinated outside student play times where ever possible, however we ask that you be vigilant when moving around the school for hazards as the contractors work to install our new playground.

Exciting times ahead!
