Week 8, Term 1 Newsletter

Friday 22nd March 2024

Nau mai haere mai, Welcome

Kia ora Clive whānau,

The strength of our community was on full show last week with the outstanding turn out for our school fair, the first after a five year hiatus. It cannot go unsaid just how much effort and preparation goes into organising this event. Planning for the fair started early in 2023, with our amazing Friends of School organising dates, donations, stalls etc. This was on display last Friday as you our community came to enjoy a night out and raise much needed funds for the installation of new shade sails around our school.

So many volunteers gave up their time to take on the different jobs, from cooking, slicing onions, selling, moving furniture, setting up stalls... the list goes on.

After much counting and factoring in costs, we are thrilled to announce the fair raised in excess of $23,000.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOW!

We are now engaging shade sail companies to quote installation of shade for our students between Room 11 and the hall and to cover the new Junior School playground. Whilst this sum will not cover the entire installation it will go a long way to making it happen.

I extend our thanks to our Friends of School, staff, parents and the wider community and businesses for all your effort and generosity in making our fair such a huge success!

Next week our Senior school will be missing in action as they head away to camp for the week. Our Year 6's are heading to Guthrie Smith camp, Tutira from Monday till Thursday. Our Year 5's head to Kohupatiki Marae for Wednesday night after exploring Napier and its historical stories and attractions before hiking Te Mata ō Rongokako (Te Mata peak) on Thursday. Luckily Friday is Good Friday, so they will all get a good rest over the long weekend.

Please note due to our seniors absence, road patrol will be provided by one of our staff members.

Noho ora mai / stay well

A Big Thanks To FOS - Friends of School

Our tamariki are enjoying the new Junior School playground. It is great to see all of their smiles and excitement as they explore the new equipment.

Once again a huge thank you to everyone in the community who has helped make this possible. Especially a big thank you to our FOS team, staff and all the parents who chipped in on working bees or completed after-hours services to make it happen for our tamariki.
